No straight lines... in life

Growing up as a child, though puberty and adolescence equilibrium meant very little to me.

I guess it is natural as our cells divide and our body throttles and blooms into maturity.

...Then we stop growing...

Today it is hard to say if the end of youth is a good or a bad thing as everyone seems to be clinging to it.

Observing the range of personalities from young to old age I see a deeper meaning and purpose to life.

Even the simple fact that there are young as well as old people seems to bring equilibrium to our human society.

One day I wondered what equilibrium meant in the dynamics of our life?

While driving on a highway about 8 years ago it suddenly saw another dimension to the matter.

I always assumed I was driving straight from point A to point B but looking at my hand I saw it constantly moving left and right. This simple movement was revealing to me how my life has always been.

Aiming at a goal my mind is preoccupied focusing on the it and I do not notice that in reality by attempting to I always move from one extreme to another.

If I push myself my body collapses and I am forced to rest. If I rest I enjoy it to much and do not want to exercise...

Young and passionate we keep pushing forward until we are so out of life balance that exhausted we collapse. Then in denial of our former experience we push in the opposite direction until once again depleted of energy.

Out of shear stubbornness some decide to stay at one extreme or the other trying desperately to prove a point to themselves and others... In the long run that does not bring them real satisfaction.

After our violent and dramatic curves have subsided we find that what we are looking for is equilibrium in life.

Some people seem to be close to it all their life and this usually comes from the respect and willing acceptance of youth and wisdom in their family and society.

Other's discover that deeper meaning to the purpose of life through trial and error... over a long...er period of time...

Searching for a deeper meaning to life and sharing the findings.
