With Heart

A day is filled with our thoughts, words and deeds.

Looking deeper at their meaning we see that there is a purpose beyond them from heir origin to the result they have on life.

The thoughts I have, the words I speak and my actions come from a place deep within. Some call it subconsciousness others spirit but undoubtedly something invisible is pushing us from within to interact within our being and with things and beings that surround us.

Fellow humans around the world have given this motivating force yet another name that corresponds to the physical organ that ceaselessly and unconditionally pumps life into our being - our heart.

We do not know the deeper meaning behind our heart beat...

We do not even care how it happens and why until our heart, or this of a loved one, gets damaged or ceases to function.

This moment is the most dramatic and feared in life as it reminds us of the imminent death each of us will encounter.

I became deeply intrigued by our shared impulse of heart and have tried to find ways to observe its manifestations. Year after year I slowly uncovered that everything we do is indeed motivated by our heart.

One can cook a meal with the heart to enjoy the process and give joy to those who will eat it, or we can process food.

The topic of exchange of labor for money seems to exist somewhat parallel to the reality of our heart but has nothing to do with it and even contradicts basic human norms.

As we grow we receive unconditionally from our parents. The more they have the more they naturally and unconditionally share with us - their children. Yet the reality beyond our family is in most cases exactly the opposite.

Step out from your doorstep and life becomes very conditional.

Our parents do their best to prepare us for "the world out there" by becoming more conditional and some times even paying us for chores we perform.

It is as if the world is an enemy to the unconditional reality within the family...

As we discover "our own place" in this conditional world we repeat the same process with our own children. We do so despite having not having made sense of why the world is this way. This is why when challenged by the young inquisitive minds surrounding us we simply say "You are too young to understand."

It is as if despite having our hearts shattered the hope that our children will somehow not have to suffer lives on. This is the reason why many find it hard to imagine having children. On one side we have to sacrifice our personal comfort and freedom and live for someone who's life depends entirely on our ability to love and give unconditionally again and again and as human beings are free we can not expect that our children will continuously accept, appreciate and understand our sacrifice.

This reality of parenting is manifested and multiplied throughout the world despite our clan, society, nation, race or religion. It is an experience we all share as we all come from a mother and a father even if modern science had an input in the process.

It is very fascinating to observe our human societies - go from one nation to another and observe the expressions of the human heart.

Within any random city or village there are people who work hard to learn and develop which results in them being considered of higher value to society. Then there are others who seem to have no ambition and are satisfied to have even the simplest of jobs.

Why are people so different?

Everyone has different potential. Our experience from childhood to maturity greatly influences our capacity to express our potential. As if our family and society are the soil in which we grow and its quality either gives us the right conditions or deprives us of nutrients.

We seem to be as cells in a giant global organism and each of us is crafted to contribute in some valuable way. If we were to view our world as the human body the conclusion would be that every human /representing a cell/ is as valuable as the whole body.

In our bodies we have bone cells, muscle cells, neurons and many others working for a common purpose but having completely different potential, functionality and purpose.

Is a brain cell more valuable than a cell in the intestines? Is the liver storing fat for personal gain?

Looking at people who collect garbage or ride on the earliest bus to work in a giant factory it is easy to imagine  they are invisible and maybe even insignificant to life as a whole.

But imagine no one coming to pick your garbage for a year.

Today as we look at news from across the globe its seems our human hearts are starting to beat for our fellow men in suffering much more than ever before.

It is as if we are all connected by a human experience of life... We do not need an interpreter to understand the suffering of others when we see it.

Today many people cross seas and borders to reach a nation they find desirable.

Germany is a very fascinating country in many ways. It is full of very curious and hard working people who try to put their heart into all they do.

German punctuality can come as a surprise to many.

A bus arrives at 7:24.

People arrive on the bus stop at 7:20.

I wondered for a long time why do we need to be that punctual and the answer given to me was very simple. Not to waste each other's time. My time is respected and I am expected to appreciate other people's time.

There are other nations where public transport is plenty and on time and everywhere it is so for similar reasons.

This is the difference between doing something with heart and just getting the job done.

It is striking to think that no education is given in the matters of heart...

If we were to exclude every spice and salt from cooking we could still call it food.

If we do not add the spice of our heart and love to life we still can call it life. But what a difference is there between excellent cuisine and a pile of broken down protein bonds, vitamins, fat and carbohydrates.

In search of profit and keeping the economic development curve up we forget that money is not a goal but a symbol of what makes life worth living.

It seems we really, and even desperately, need to look for a deeper meaning to the purpose of our life if we want to enjoy this journey... as well as make it enjoyable to others.

Citizen Cinderella

Digg deeper for the meaning and purpose of life and you will start wondering why you feel like a "Cinderella" citizen in your own nation.

When owing taxes to the state we have to pay them.

If we are entitled to funding from the state have to apply for it, wait and be persistent otherwise it is simply not given.

Labor is taxed. Shopping is taxed. Property is taxed.

Our foster parents need our money to play "elite"...

Our state knows when we are born and have a birthday,
Our health situation,
When we turn 18.
When we get married.
When we die.

Has anyone received a greeting card from the government for his/her birthday?

It has collected enough of our money but entitled clans believe our money belongs to them and they belong on top.

At the same time they can not live without us because all money they have come from "the people".

Some times I look at the live of political, business and other celebrities and wonder why they never seem to have enough or enjoy what they have. They always hunger for more...

As we all give our faith and money to our government it stands in a symbolic position of our extended parent. Yet no one is willing and daring to see this side of our relation.

Would loving parents tax their children and calculate the money invested in them demanding return with interest?

Can loving parents exploit their children's labor, keep them illiterate and sell their interest for personal gain?

All of the above sound absurd to people who have family and children whom they sincerely love.

This is how we know we are Citizen Cinderella - person and a family without a true parental figure in our society.

All former and current system of government that considered this deep meaning of life have brought peace and progress.

All others brought fear, war, division, death and destruction.

Being aware of this helps know who we really are and what the things around us really stand for.

Parental Management Culture

This looks like a funny or wrong combination of words. But let me explain as I see some deeper meaning behind...

We are taught to see ourselves as children, students, employees, citizens, voters, pensioners...

Despite of busily rushing to acquire knowledge, skills and career we always end up going to one and the same place every day - home.

What is a home?

You may have a family and children or you may not. You may have a big house or a small one. To all of us though our home represents a place of peace and safety even if its in the middle of a war zone.

How strange a place is home?

If we ask ourselves what makes our home so special it will not be easy to find clear answers... Because they are not logical.

For those who were lucky to grow up in a family and experience the love and care of parents home is a feeling of being embraced and cared for, understood and forgiven but some times also punished.

Even for those who grew up without parents the care and kindness of people who stood in a symbolic parental figure position gave them a taste of what home feel like. Beyond that our common human nature longs for a home.

Who makes the home a home?

Our parents do. Their love and care for us, even though probably not perfect, was shaping our perception of love, life and values.

What many people conclude about society is that it is an extension of our family. What makes up the society around us is... other families.

I have been trying to imagine a place where we would all calm down and enjoy life more. It seems that only a parental management can allow such a place to exist.

In a society if our manager /kings, presidents, prime ministers/ have and display a parental culture society seems to become more balanced and everyone seems to have a place in the system. On the contrary if the managers take a more self centered managerial approach the division between classes becomes greater. Some seem to have rights while others have to loose them.

It seems not to matter if the system is called feudal, monarchic, democratic or socialist because if a wrong managerial approach is accepted social tension keeps growing until members of that society decide they can not take it any longer, brake the bonds and try our something else.

The deeper meaning behind history and the purpose of life seems to be our search for a home.

When a leader takes all power in a nation an interesting name is given to him - the father of the nation.

Queen Elizabeth is loved as the mother not only as a monarch.

It seems we are searching to identify a parental figure that would stand in the highest managerial position.

Why is that? In my opinion we want a world that is fair and kind and capable for forgiveness and a love that goes beyond our faults in the process of our maturation.

We generously forgive our own shortcomings and learn to live with them whilst easily judge others for theirs.

Parents are capable of forgiving the faults of their children through the understanding that they need to mature before they are able to fully control themselves and understand.

A loving parent can forgive and hope again and again investing love and guiding the child beyond physical and metal fatigue.

If the leaders of our societies were motivated by such Parental Management culture they would worry, not being able to sleep at night, that every coin of the tax money collected is spent in the most efficient and beneficial way for the well-being of the true share holders of the state - its citizens and their families.

Truly there is a deeper meaning behind the title every state employee collectively carries - pubic servant.

As parents are in position to serve the growing children so is the state as an extended family structure... no matter the label it carries - left, center or right.

No straight lines... in life

Growing up as a child, though puberty and adolescence equilibrium meant very little to me.

I guess it is natural as our cells divide and our body throttles and blooms into maturity.

...Then we stop growing...

Today it is hard to say if the end of youth is a good or a bad thing as everyone seems to be clinging to it.

Observing the range of personalities from young to old age I see a deeper meaning and purpose to life.

Even the simple fact that there are young as well as old people seems to bring equilibrium to our human society.

One day I wondered what equilibrium meant in the dynamics of our life?

While driving on a highway about 8 years ago it suddenly saw another dimension to the matter.

I always assumed I was driving straight from point A to point B but looking at my hand I saw it constantly moving left and right. This simple movement was revealing to me how my life has always been.

Aiming at a goal my mind is preoccupied focusing on the it and I do not notice that in reality by attempting to I always move from one extreme to another.

If I push myself my body collapses and I am forced to rest. If I rest I enjoy it to much and do not want to exercise...

Young and passionate we keep pushing forward until we are so out of life balance that exhausted we collapse. Then in denial of our former experience we push in the opposite direction until once again depleted of energy.

Out of shear stubbornness some decide to stay at one extreme or the other trying desperately to prove a point to themselves and others... In the long run that does not bring them real satisfaction.

After our violent and dramatic curves have subsided we find that what we are looking for is equilibrium in life.

Some people seem to be close to it all their life and this usually comes from the respect and willing acceptance of youth and wisdom in their family and society.

Other's discover that deeper meaning to the purpose of life through trial and error... over a long...er period of time...

The carrot

The deeper meaning of life can appear unexpectedly from the simplest of things that surround us.

One sunny day and bright sunshine was lighting the dining room.

I sat on a chair in the dining room with my lunch looking at me.

A soup, salad and a sausage with mashed potatoes.

It looked simple and delicious but as I was gazed at it I became aware of a deeper meaning it carried.

The soup was made of carrots that were cared for by the hands of many people - planting, watering, picking, packing, transporting, displaying in a shop before ending up on my table.

It felt good to be aware of how much efforts it took to have a single carrot on the table.

We often are made to believe that manual work is undesirable but that one carrot made me feel grateful to all the hands that made it possible for it to be part of my soup.

Enjoying modern technology I sometimes stop myself and think how difficult life was all the centuries before ours and still is for many people today. Surrounded by our gadgets we forget or never even become aware of how lucky we are...

I looked at the rest of my lunch and each ingredient had an adventure story to tell.

All life had a purpose and a deeper meaning. The aroma was sweeter. The taste was richer. Taking a breath felt great.

Lunch was not just calories and nutrients on my way to the next task.

I felt connected and grateful...

I felt alive...

"National Identity" - most expensive brand...

Looking for deeper meaning and the purpose of life I wondered what the most expensive brand in the world was.

The largest corporations seemed the obvious answer but it was too simple and obvious an answer.

Do not read on until you find an answer to this question:

“The leaders of which organization have the most money to spend this year?”

The place most of our money gathers is shrouded in mystery.

Our National Budget is only occasionally mentioned every now and then but as a whole its details are covered in deep mist and layers of paperwork.

Trying to make sense of the numbers one can’t help but be amazed at how rich “we the people” are.
We often donate /or it is taken from us/ the larger % of what we make to the “common good” – our Nation.

Our politicians are like priests as the battle for our vote is a battle for our trust in who will “save” our lives. Even in totalitarian nations and monarchies once the trust of the people is lost the system collapses.

Our Federal Governments are sitting on Trillions of our currency acting like it knows best what we need. Yet there is not even one nation in the world where life is fully satisfactory…

The so called big International Corporations seem to be hooked on the mercy of the state for protection and special conditions allowing them to have advantage over other market players hooked to other National Brands.

Yet their lobbyists twist and drill laws locally and internationally to maximize profit and keep their shareholders happy… slowly becoming Financial Island Nations…

Looking deeper at our own
National Brand
it is very interesting what our tax money are spent for.

Our language, culture, security, history and many more are hammered together into the shape of “Our Identity”.

What actually comprises “Our Identity” can really break a human heart…

Often our founding national heroes became such after bloody battles where many lives were lost on both sides.

Our territory was stolen from preexisting nations and peoples who are still part of the new identity.

Our language evolved from other languages.

Our culture is a mixture of many cultures.

Our DNA traces back to Africa.

All religions are searching for the meaning of the human life that is common to all.

Because all of the above cost money our National Identity becomes a very pricey brand.

We write history books omitting facts then covering up the omission with other stories.

We insist the land belongs to us now ignoring claims by violated parties.

We desperately search for what makes our nation unique and worthy of carrying its current brand.

But the problems of our brands grow as the world develops.

Transportation and communication shortens all distances making omissions more difficult to hide.

We now have many nationalities, cultures and religions living door to door in big cities.

We find ourselves needing to know 2 -3 foreign languages just to keep up with global job markets. At the same time technology point to a lesser need for human labor in the future.

All of this trends surround us making us incapable of visualizing our future but at we hold on to a National Passport...

We compare the military spending of national brands arguing that this money can find a better use.

The defense budget is only a fraction of our National Identity PR campaign.

If we had no enemies we will not need to defend. If we admit our faults and willingly share what we have there will be no enemies left to protect ourselves from.

How shall we spend the tax money we gather in the future?

Will we give up our expensive brands in exchange for an identity of one global human family?

A lot has to change inside of us and we have to find a deeper meaning to the purpose of our lives before we are able to embrace such level of freedom.

The freedom of the global /or even universal/ citizen...

By the candle light

One evening as darkness had hidden the rest of reality I was looking at the soft light of a tea candle.

My mind wondered about significance of the moment.

A hard substance was slowly melting under the heat of fire while gently feeding the flame...

A thin thread was slowly burning out of existence...

It suddenly downed on me. I was witnessing a moment of self sacrifice for something higher.

A piece of thread on its own and a lump of candle wax do not seem like anything special.

Yet come the darkness of night and they have proven capable of bringing joy and warmth to countless generations of human beings exposed to the elements, fearful of the evil done in the shadow of dark.

Countless books were written, songs sang, paintings painted and work done under the light of a candle.

What an amazing fact in the history of the human race.

Suddenly it seems fair that song be sang and poems written about the flame of the candle.

How many thoughtful minds were inspired by the gentle and loving sacrifice of the thread and the wax radiating light while slowly dying.

Leaving the buzz of life aside and looking around truly opens a deeper meaning to the purpose of life,

No wonder candles are used in temples of worship, prayer and meditation as well as for creating romantic atmosphere.

Love and self sacrifice always seem to lead to the creation of something higher, deeper, better... especially if the sacrifice is understood and accepted.

Who are we...?

If one has lived in only one country life would seem rather simple.

Our identity tends to be clearer the less populated our dwelling is as the variables are fewer in number.

Going deeper the smallest stronghold of safety seems to be our own family but some people have the experience of loosing trust even in their family members.

In a desperate move to protect our being from the world around us we close up only to discover that even the "I" is capable of betrayal to our self.

Angered at the discovery of our weakness we look, speak and act bitterly at those around us hurting deeper than the rest those who truly care for and love us.

We then run away carrying the imprint of our identity and social status and grab hold of this or that ideal but as time passes, even if circling entire world, we slowly realize that villages are villages all over the globe as are cities and countries.

In all of them live other... humans... in a similar state of struggle looking for happiness and deeper meaning of their own existence and purpose of life.

Travelling through the ups and downs of life we discover that one can feel remorse and loneliness sitting on a rock in his/her own rural garden or on the top floor of a multi-billion dollar corporation.

So then, what is our real identity? And is there a purpose to life?

Dying patients only regret is not having loved more their family and friends....

Death seems to have no religion, race, ideology, national identity nor political or sexual orientation.

Only humbled before its imminent arrival do we truly strip down the layers of social status that separate us from being simply a human family.

Is an African mans love less capable of winning a girls heart?

Is Muslim children's laughter higher quality than Christian's?

Why do members of all races, religion and nationalities join the fun of a random persons uncontrollable laughter in a subway train in a random city of a random country?

We do not need translation to know what fear, sadness, desperation, happiness or love mean to another human.

A great discovery was made few years back. It involved the DNA sampling of the human race.

The conclusion was that we all originate from one mother therefore are ONE FAMILY...

This simple fact explains why I understand without the need of interpretation.

And why does everyone who looks beyond his/her religion, race, nationality or clan...

What is the purpose of a family except to love one another and share?

There is not much we need to know to be able to do that...

Maybe that really is the deeper meaning to the purpose of life...

The Life© contract - a nightmare vision

The search for a the deeper meaning of life is making us ask questions "out of the box" like:

What if whoever created this world was not a parent...

What if whoever created this universe and our planet, and life itself was a modern day businessman searching for profit or politician in need of more taxes?

What will happen to each one of us will be that few minutes before birth or conception "the management" will appear presenting to us the contract of Life©.

Due to the complexity of the technological know-how related to the products and services involved this contract will be trillions of pages long written in very fine microscopic print probably starting
with:

"Everything you think is "you©" actually belongs to the Creator© of the Universe© and Life©"

Followed by precise calculations© of the rent© for tissues©, bones©, digestion©, respiration©, blood circulation© etc.

The so called Natural Environment© and its designed interaction© with our being© will take the larger part of the agreement©. There we will probably be asked to pay rent for the trees©, grass© and other plants© that produce the oxygen© we consume as well as be introduced to the special fee for the carbon dioxide© we exhale©.

Intentional misconduct and violations resulting in sicknesses© will be severely penalized as they will require the involvement of the immune system© and will result in emergency© charges.

We will be obliged for the rest of our lives to use © to indicate all products and technologies provided under this Life© agreement.

Reflecting about the deeper meaning of life I honestly feel sickened even by the prospect that such a contract might actually exist.

Thank goodness life is created out of love and not for profit...

Only parents have proven to be capable of offering everything unconditionally to the life they have created.

By simple analogy whoever created life must be the origin of parenthood itself and must have been motivated by similar sentiments.

A dog in the sun

One day I  sat on a bench in a park.

The sun was shining and shared its warmth generously making it very easy to relax and doze off.

Of course that would be considered by many inappropriate and maybe I would be even taken for a homeless and picked on by passing law enforcement units.

The battle in my mind was won by the good manners I was taught but as I looked around I noticed a dog stretched out on the grass freely enjoying what I had denied myself seconds ago.

I could not help but envy that dog. The freedom it had to enjoy what was there to enjoy. Not bound by social norms and rules.

I could not help but wonder more about the differences in our lives.

Dogs do not need to work and earn their living. A lucky pet dog enjoys Utopian life and is completely freed from the norms of a dog society. Maybe such a life would fit in our description of a Kingdom of Heaven.

I had to stop my mind from wondering as the thoughts filling me up were disturbing more and more the delicate balance of my "superior identity" as a human.

Becoming aware of the deeper meanings of life made me wonder how our civilized life could benefit from a more balanced world view that includes more of our humanity and less of our culture and differences.

I stood up and walked away happy and encouraged that my observations were a sign that not everything is lost... there must be many people looking at life and wondering how can it be better for us all.

The finger

One day I looked at my finger critically.

"What makes this finger mine?" I wondered.

I did not buy it, I did not make it, I was not given to me by my parents - they did not create it for me as well.

Its high technological complexity is astonishing, yet, I have taken no action to, in any way, deserve the rights to use such technology for free /unless it was open source and shared freely/.

According to common sense I should buy my possessions by exchanging my labor for money and then money for goods, or by inhering, or being given the money by someone else.

Shockingly, I discovered that my own finger exists outside accepted social norms.

By means of comparison only a loving parents stimulated by love give unconditionally to their children.

Can it be that all this time we have been loved and never realized it?

I was left without further arguments...

My finger proved to be a great teacher of the deeper meaning of life.

There's got to be a Creator...
